Daily Prompt: Smell you later.
Humans have very strong scent memory. Tell us about a smell that transports you.
Photographers, artists, poets: show us TRANSPORTED.
Ever since I was born I’ve gone skiing with my parents. Some times in France but mostly in Austria.
Also the vacations during the summer were mostly spent in Austria. I have to say spent, because this year I didn’t go with my parents and I don’t know if that’s going to be the case next year. I do hope to go skiing with them next winter, though.
Ok, back to Austria. Everybody who has gone skiing in Austria knows that during the winter-season there are these little villages that are totally filled with tourists. Ofcourse it’s supercold during the wintermonths, so everyone has their fireplace on full speed going and that gives the most lovely smell throughout these villages. Ofcourse this is just the smell of a fireplace but for me there is a nice feeling with this smell.
During summer there is also a typical smell in Austria. Whenever I smell this I think of all the nice summerholidays I spent there!
I also have one more smell that I can think of now. With ‘Art History’ class I went to Rome last year. Just before we went there I bought a new lipbalm. One that smelled really sweet like raspberry and cherry. The trip to Rome only lasted 4 days so ofcourse my lipbalm wasn’t finished after those 4 days. The lip balm even lasted for about 2 months, but everytime I smelled the sweet raspberries and cherries I was reminded of the awesome things we did and the great things we saw in Rome.
Does anyone of you have a smell that reminds you of a great memory?
